Addiction for the young adult has many barriers. For most, the human brain is not fully formed until 25 years of age. When years of substance abuse has been present during the brain’s formative years, the human brain’s development can be severely affected. Many young adults need a higher level of care to treat their abuse and addiction. They need more intensive treatment to learn how to live in this world as a sober adult. They also need more time to learn how to truly live in recovery. At Pacific Solstice Addiction Treatment Center, we know how to treat young adults substance abuse and addiction, while at the same time helping families discontinue a pattern of co-dependency and enabling.

Our young adult program offers treatment 5 days a week for the young adult with the 6th day being a family education or a fun treatment day. Our addiction and treatment plan assists young addicts in learning the very important early recovery skills in their first 30 days and practical advice on how to stay sober. Young addicts will participate in individual and group sessions. They will be introduced and encouraged to participate in support groups and 12 step groups. They will find new eating, playing, exercising, and spiritual behaviors to incorporate into their new lives which are easy to do when you are just miles from the Pacific Ocean in the hills above Laguna Beach, California!

From days 30-120, recovering addicts will learn long-term recovery skills. Not only will the underlying issues that contributed to the addiction be addressed, but treatment plans to further their educational and professional goals will be addressed. We have outings to colleges, workshops around resume building and interviewing skills, and professional case managers who are young and experts at transitioning to life away from a treatment center.

Also learned is balancing recovery with day-to-day life activities, including learning the skills to cope with crisis and disappointments. Outpatient treatment is designed as the final phase of treatment before one begins the long-term journey of recovery. It is important that the family and loved ones continue their aftercare with self help support groups, and even long-term family therapy to avoid the potential of returning to a pattern of codependency and enabling. The family and addict must continue to contribute to their recovery to avoid relapse.

Recreational Activities that support recovery include:

Boating | Yoga | Surfing | Beach Outings | Fitness Workouts | Movies | Music | Drumming | And More…

Educational Activities that support recovery include:

Transitioning | Resume Design | LinkedIN Page Design | College Application Workshops | Job interviewing skills | Independent life skills | Nutrition and Health | And More…

At Pacific Solstice, we know young addicts. We truly care about the young addict enough to create a separate treatment program just for them. For those who require it, we also provide TRANSITIONAL LIVING arrangements at our structured, yet nurturing home in Southern California.

Education and Career Development

Regaining one’s natural life’s direction is an essential component of true recovery (as opposed to just abstinence). Most young people have had their lives, education, and career development hijacked by the ravages of addiction. This only further increases feelings of shame and isolation, and causes individuals to associate with fellow companions in a similar situation, resulting in a negative feedback loop.

Coaching for employment/academics is something we feel strongly about here at Pacific Solstice. We offer step-by-step assistance from advanced therapists Master’s Degrees in Education, in everything from writing a resume, including job interviewing, career exploration, college entry, financial aid, class enrollment, and organizational skills.

Sometimes, an individual who is who is feeling the shame and confusion of being both emotionally overwhelmed and disorganized, greatly benefits from a little hand holding. Although we offer compassionate help in all these areas, we also demand that the client become more and more accountable in taking increasing levels of responsibility for their own growth and recovery. Each client is continually assessed for what their particular needs are at any given point in this process.

Our younger clients often feel stuck in a dead-end, believe that they have fallen too far off the track to ever recover a normal life, and have only a negative image of themselves and their future. In redirecting a client by exploring their innate talents and attributes, we succeed in developing a new future imagery that is filled with hope, pride, and success in all categories. A positive vision of hope is the strongest guarantee of sustained recovery.

Transitional Living

Pacific Solstice offers arrangements for Transitional Living for individuals participating in out PHP Day Treatment Program. Our homes are located within 10 minutes of the treatment center. These are highly supervised luxurious homes located in residential neighborhoods among our supportive community. At our transitional living homes, transportation to the treatment center in Laguna Hills on the Irvine border will be provided, as well as to many recreational, spiritual, and recovery enhancing activities included in the daily treatment schedule. Our homes are run by trained Resident Advisors and provides an opportunity to live among other young sober adults who share the same goal of recovery. New healthy peer relationships are encouraged, as well as healthy eating and exercise. Slowly over time, the young addict will have more and more time to go out into the community for socialization, meetings, school, and/or work.
